We have a winner! Congratulations to Aubree Watkins, who takes home the grand prize in our 2023 Twist The Throttle for Trails moto fundraiser—a KTM Freeride E-XC electric bike, as well as additional prizes from our partners Giant Loop, Leatt and USWE Hydration Packs. Aubree lives in Auburn and is a longtime supporter of SBTS. She considers the Lost Sierra a bit of a second home, and comes up often to ride mountain bikes in Downieville or the Gold Lakes area, which she loves. She’s also raced the Downieville Classic in the past. Even though she doesn’t ride motos (yet!), Aubree contributed to the fundraiser to support the work of SBTS and, specifically, Connected Communities.
“That area is like our backyard in the summer, we ride there all the time, so it’s about giving back to the people on the ground who are doing the work to build more trails. I think it’s super important to put our money where our mouths are. I work weekends so I can’t physically be there a lot of times for trail days, so I wanted to give back in this way.”
Aubree has been wanting to parlay her love of two wheels into moto riding, and is super excited to start on her new KTM Freeride because its three power modes will allow her to ease into it!
Congratulations again to Aubree, and a huge thank you to everyone who donated to this year’s campaign—together we raised $30,585 for new moto-legal trails in the Lost Sierra!
