2025 SBTS Earn a Bike Program

Woom bikes

SBTS’s Earn a Bike Program, Sponsored by WOOM, gets local youth rolling on two wheels and invested in trail stewardship. Kids ages 7-9 participate in educational sessions covering: trail work, nature education, bike maintenance and building riding skills. Upon completing the activities, the program participants are given a new mountain bike to enjoy on the trails SBTS builds and maintains.

Program participants will receive a brand new WOOM OFF AIR 4 or OFF AIR 5 and a WOOM helmet!!

Info & Requirements:

  • Open to Ages 7-9
  • 5 participants to be selected
  • Bike is earned through participation in ALL activities (see below)
  • Ability to listen & follow directions
  • A parent/guardian MUST accompany their participant to ALL activities
  • Parent transportation required

Activities (all take place in Quincy):

  • 4/27, 1 PM – Hike & Trail Dynamics Education, Wilderness Scavenger Hunt
  • 5/4, 1PM – Simple Trail Work
  • 5/10, 2PM – Maintenance Clinic & Bike Ride

To Apply:

Wishful participants should submit a video or audio recording of themselves explaining

what they want to learn by doing the program, why they want a new mountain bike, and why they want to become involved with SBTS.

Due by March 14th. Applicants will be notified of decisions by March 20th.

All submissions should be emailed to Program Manager: stone@sierratrails.org

SBTS will not use any video/audio submissions for promotion or publication. Submissions are strictly for evaluating and selecting applicants. Should a parent/guardian not feel comfortable with a video/audio format, a written application may be requested.
