Wanna get really lost in the Lost Sierra, but not really get lost?
The Mountain Mule experience explores remote pockets of Plumas and Sierra Counties during a one-of-a-kind adventure. You ride, we pack your gear to your evening destination and together we enjoy food, conversation and beverages, then rinse and repeat the next day. The route is packed with hidden gems, like Sierra Nevada Brewing Mountain Chill Zones and 1800s-era fire lookouts, as we take you on a guided tour of amazing singletrack and historical landmarks.
Whether it’s a single day trip or two or more nights, our outdoor-recreation trained Mountain Mule team will take you on backcountry adventures via regular pedal bicycle or to the outer limits aboard a pedal-assist Santa Cruz eMTB (Heckler and Bullit models). Bring your camping gear along with your bicycle or rent one through Yuba Expeditions, and we will supply the cooking gear, food, ice cold Sierra Nevadas and plenty of good times. And because this is an SBTS event, we always have your safety, enjoyment and stewardship of the trails in mind. Maybe even a random outdoor industry celebrity might show up to tell stories( some stories are even true and some you’ll later think you shouldn’t know, depending on the celebrity).

You will see new places, majestic mountains and meadows, a few old-time Classics and even some old-growth, while traversing narrow singletrack rarely traveled by the masses. Our rides feature 100-year-old mining routes, fire lookouts perched on mountaintops, swimming holes, watering holes, fishing holes and climbing walls. We can even create a fully customized adventure, shaped around our Connected Communities Project, where you’ll ride trail between local restaurants, breweries and hangouts in a sampling of the experience our longterm vision of creating a signature trail connecting 15 mountain towns will provide.

Our guides are experienced riders with bicycle mechanic skills* and outfitted support vehicles that will get you to your destination. And those ride stops along the way? That’s the icing on the cake. The Chill Zone features fully stocked ice chests, relaxation chairs, sound system beats, eMTB charging stations and snacky nibblets as you stretch out under shady canopies. And if you’re looking for a different type of corporate retreat, this is the perfect place for customer and employee appreciation events, product debuts, team building outings and press junkets.
